Everything We Need, Proverbs 1
" . . . for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life; . . "
Proverbs 1:3
We are so blessed in America. We have so many blessings we can't count them all. In fact, we may have too much (too much is when your stuff gets in the way of your relationship with God). I remember the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk" when he goes into his tirade, "All I need . . ." (click here to see the clip).
Make a quick list of the things you can't do without? In economic turmoil, we may be looking for ways to cut back. What if you had nothing? Would your attitude about God change?

Proverbs 1:33 - ". . . but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease without fear of harm."
The #1 fear in the world, bar none is "Interpersonal Aggression" says Colonel Grossman, author of the book "On Combat". Colonel Grossman is the foremost authority on combat and trains the military special forces and elite police forces on how to prepare for this fear and to deal with it psychologically. The fear never goes away, but these professionals learn to recognize it and handle the symptoms as they arise.
This fear is bread in our genetic code from ages of human conflict. We have become adept in a modern society at sizing up a situation quickly when we park, step into a public place, and analyze oncomers (friend or foe analysis). Our defenses are automatic anticipating the "fight or flight" response should the need arise. What is your worst nightmare? Does it haunt you now? What helps you to overcome? The word of God promises a sound mind and encourages us to be as "wise as serpents and as innocent as doves."
