The Way of the Ant, Proverbs 6

The Unique Engineering of the Ant

What a wonderful weekend. Have had some wonderful conversations with a few friends and readers about the "Proverbs Journey". If you have stumbled upon this blog, this site is dedicated to revealing wisdom written about in Proverbs. Each day, we read the corresponding chapter of the day. Today is October 6 and today we are reading Chapter 6 of Proverbs. You are invited to join us each day for the next two years and comment. Two years seems like a long time, but I think it will go by fast and you and I will learn much about the "Wisdom of Solomon" in this dedication. Please comment on how this journey is impacting your life. I am excited by the changes I am noticing in my day to day understanding.

My wife has accepted the "Proverbs 31" challenge. For years, I have told my wife that she is that woman written about in Proverbs 31. She has agreed to read Proverbs 31 for 31 days. I am excited for her and am looking forward to what God reveals to her in these next 31 days!

I am also making "Wisdom Cards" for our children. To help them understand how Proverbs can apply to their lives now. My eldest really likes Proverbs.

Proverbs 6:6 - "Go to the ant you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"

I discovered this verse early in the year in Chronicles or some other old testament verse and then came across it in Proverbs. It really opened my mind to understanding of "daily diligence". I have been experimenting on daily tasks that are adding up. I will make a quick list for you, although I am changing my lists and am also working on a "Do Not Do" list as well.

Today I found this unique photo diagram of an ant. Not only is an ant diligent, but he is unique to his task. He is designed to do what he does. You and I are truly unique, just like the finger prints and the DNA of our composition and the totality of our environment (how we were raised, the knowlege we have accumulated, our biases, our moods, etc.). Despite our many imperfections, we are designed to accomplish the will of God in our life. The ant already knows what it is supposed to do and they are very meticulous.

God has a plan for us, but he wants us to discover it and move in that path with him. He is patient. Sometimes, I think he will wait for generations to get it right. We can bloom now, but we must ask him for guidance. Solomon really hammers it home in the verse above.

Here is my quick list of things that I am working on:
* Read the bible and pray daily
* Plan the day - schedule meetings, make calls, rest, snacks, exercise, etc.
* Accomplish one important thing in my business
* Read (a chapter a day of a book or series of books)
* Organize one area of my home (a project list)
* Activities with the Family
* Activities with my wife
* Ministry Opportunities
* Review of our finances
* Maintenance items

Would love your ideas!

did anyone ever tell you that you are brilliant! You are perhaps the smartest/wisest person I know. Of course I don't know that many people :-).

Thanks! I am just learning as we go. Can't claim that I am wise. We have so far to go.
