Do you live on the edge? This term is usually reserved for visionaries and juggernauts. I remember a "hot shot" sales representative tell some of his associates, in an effort to motivate them, that "If you aren't living on the edge, you are taking up too much room."

A Christian "on fire" for God realizes that he is living on the edge of eternity, pushing and expanding territory for the kingdom. Interestingly, this focus applies in business, in ministry, at home, and in the community. If you don't feel under attack in your efforts, then something may be wrong. When we attempt to do the miraculous, we find ourselves depending more and more on God's direction and when we are showing signs of success, the enemy must try to contain the advancements. According to the prayer of Jabez, we need protection from the enemy. We don't want to fight the battle ourselves, we want to create skirmishes and walk in the protection of the almighty.

Proverbs 2:20 - "Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous."

We want to seek God's protection and walk in his blessing. I love the quote from General Patton "Your job is not to die for your country, but to make the other dumb bastard die for his." We want to avoid evil, to avoid harm, but we want to advance in the battle realizing that God is with us and leading the way. Is he expanding your territory? With more territory comes more responsibility.

All Tied Up, Proverbs 5

"The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast."

Proverbs 5:22

Do you feel all tied up? Things just not going your way? I know I sometimes feel that way, but then something miraculous happens. The Lord sets me loose and I run. Sin can bind us up forever if we don't confess it or repent. I am strong believer in "Pray Until Something Happens" - P.U.S.H.

We are engaged in a battle on this earth. The battle takes many forms for men. We work hard, come home, zone out and live by remote control. We have been sidelined. Others get caught up in extra-marital affairs and they are side-lined. Many get involved in drugs and they are sidelined. When you become active in the Kingdom, then you become dangerous and a target to be sidelined. By grace we are set free and we need prayer more than ever to keep us free from the ties that bind. "Do you have what it takes?"

Proverbs 5:20 - "Why be captivated my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife."

Dangerous territory indeed. Just finished reading "Every Man's Battle" by Stephen Arteburn. In it cites the verse that has kept him from sin "I have made a covenant with my eyes" spoken by Job. When danger lurks, he has learned to "bounce" his eyes away from what has captured his eye. This training has enabled him to protect his marriage and keep his love for his wife vibrant.

The Right Path, Proverbs 15

How do we know which path to take in life? So much it seems is left to chance. Each day we have a decision to make that will affect the rest of our lives. Option A seems right and so does Option B. Some opt for the fork and wind up in the thorns. Others take the wrong path and wind up missing life.

I hate getting lost. A man never wants to admit he is lost or wants to ask for directions. Are you lost today? Maybe there are some lessons in Proverbs 15 that makes sense.

Proverbs 15:11 - "Death and Destruction lie open before the Lord - how much more the hearts of men!"

I have never seen a destroyed site in person. I have seen the aftermath on the news - hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, war destruction, and volcanic sites, etc. We are in awe of the magnitude of devastation. Our hearts are open before the Lord and our thoughts known. Pretty scary stuff. We should search our hearts, test our motives, and remind ourselves of the eternal accounting and oversight. This may keep us on the right path.

Proverbs 15:29 - "The Lord is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

Have you ever prayed and knew that God was hearing your prayers? That everything was going to be alright or that God knew about your situation? If you and I are praying, we are doing something right. Luckily, we don't need to "feel" something to know we have been heard. Fervent prayer is another matter. Life or death prayer stronger still. We sometimes take prayer for granted. How often do you pray? When is the best time to pray?
